KOS — An Exocortex
AI that trains thinking instead of replacing it — forced to commit to a position and a probability, then scored against what actually happened.
The Problem
AI is a black box even to the people building it — nobody fully knows how it reasons or where it’s headed. The common response is to hand thinking over to it anyway: ask, get an answer, skip the reasoning.
What KOS Does
KOS does the opposite. Before it answers, it forces a committed position and a probability. Then it scores that position against what actually happened — not against how helpful the answer felt.
Status
Independent project. Currently one user: its founder. Built on evenings and weekends alongside a full-time role, to find where human thinking and AI reasoning actually combine, not where one replaces the other.
Why It Matters
Most AI products optimize for the feeling of being helped. KOS optimizes for whether the thinking was actually right — a different bet, and the one worth testing first, on myself.
